What is a root canal?
Root canal therapy is an endodontic treatment that repairs the tooth when the dental pulp and nerves inside a tooth have become infected. Dr. James Feldman and Dr. Steven Feldman will remove the infected portions of the tooth and fill the cavity with a medicated material that will allow the tooth to heal. After the root canal, our dentists will finish the treatment with a filling or dental crown to protect the tooth and restore its original shape and structure. A root canal in Washington, DC, usually only takes one or two visits to our office to complete.
Why do I need a root canal?
Once dental pulp has become infected, it will start to die, becoming very painful. Eventually, the tooth will die and need extraction if not treated. A root canal can save your tooth, repairing its strength, function and appearance.
Does a root canal hurt?
Root canal therapy has a reputation for being very painful, but this is not the case. Root canal therapy usually causes minimal discomfort. Thanks to advances in techniques and anesthesia, a modern-day root canal is very similar to an ordinary filling. Our dentists and team make every effort to ensure that you are comfortable and happy with your treatment.
